Bedford Road still in the eye of the storm

Events surrounding Bedford House grew even more bizarre when the developer who owns the house submitted plans to redevelop the two adjoining properties he did not own as well.

It is possible to submit a planning application on a property you do not own with the agreement of the owner. The developer had omitted to obtain that. The adjoining owner did not want to give it.

Even if by some chance the developer had got planning permission he would not have been able to redevelop without the owners’ agreement.

But the whole incident puts more pressure and worries on the neighbours.

After a few weeks, amid a storm of protests from residents, the developer withdrew his planning application.

But now he has submitted a fresh application and the whole business has started again.

Cllr Hugh Cleaver, who has been working with local residents for some years admits he is both amazed and angry that residents are being subjected to these continuing ongoing pressures.
