Better Air Quality is vital

The large green box station in Grove Road, by the path down to the A406, is designed to measure the local air quality.

Bad air quality costs lives.

This roadside site monitors for carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide and Airborne Particles (PM10) . The latter are pollutant dust from vehicle exhaust gases, tyres etc.

Records show our area, where the M11 and A406 combine, has among the highest (worst) pollution in the borough and across London.

That is why we are supporting the campaigns to reduce these pollutants and improve residents’ health. Road surfaces like the A406 need to be sprayed with dust suppressants to control the flow of PM10 into the atmosphere.
