SALWAY GARDENS

by hughcleaver on 13 March, 2014

Salway Gardens is a much valued area which gives pleasure to many residents. To their families, young children and their dogs alike.

Transport for London used part of the land as a base while it repaired the nearby Central Line . In return it gave the Council over £10,000 to be spent on renovating the park.

There was some planting, restoration of beds and some seats. Bulb planting followed for the spring display. And a small area of footpath near one gate was resurfaced.

An underground stream – the Wynnbrook, runs from Woodford High Road down to the Roding under the gardens. Over the years movement of the clay undersoil has badly damaged the paths. There are now dangerous cracks and fissures in the paths.

We are now campaigning to get the council to resurface all the paths. In the meantime officers have agreed to fill the cracks as a temporary repair. Highways Engineers will then decide on the best way to make the permanent repairs the footpaths need.

Please let us know if you support our campaign, and tell us what ideas you have for Salway Gardens.
