CELEBRATING GEORGE LANE

The most successful local shopping centre in Redbridge

More people visit our local shopping centre, and spend more money here than in any other local borough shopping centre.

Credit must go to the variety of traders we have. The borough award to a local storekeeper for raising the profile of local shops was well deserved. The recently relaid pavements and tree planting all help.

The Shrubberies in the centre needs restoring. A few years ago generous local residents and traders responded to our appeal for money to maintain the flower beds.

We are pleased to have been contacted by residents and traders who volunteered to do some ‘guerilla gardening’ on beds in the central area. Working with these volunteers will help us clear the overgrown beds. Fresh planting will make a difference. At the same time we have asked the Council to see if it can find more ways of investing in the success of George Lane.  And we have chased up the Council’s contractors whose grass-cutting programme is, we understand, behind schedule.
