The plans to introduce a “fitness suite” into the library were not agreed prior to the local elections but may now be put forward again. The original proposal was for the suite to be put into offices and storage areas behind the library, which would be left as it is.

Unfortunately there are technical problems with this option and amended proposals were put forward that would see part of the library used for a fitness suite and the rest of the library remodelled to allow for it. The size of the library would be unchanged but the Hollis Room would be turned over to library use.

These are still only proposals and we asked that a proper consultation with users is carried out before any final decision is taken. I have a number of issues with regard to the effect of the plans on the library.
