Effective Action against Street Drinking and Anti Social Behaviour

by hughcleaver on 16 March, 2014

The Lib Dem Focus Team’s campaign to cut street drinking and associated Anti Social Behaviour continues. We want to cut the easy supply of high alcohol drink sold in our area. Such supplies of cheap drink cause the problems.

The Council’s Anti Social Behaviour teams and the Police teams have stepped up their investigations. Shops selling alcoholic drinks in breach of their licences are brought before the Council’s Licensing Committee. The Focus Team demands firm action against offending businesses.

Cllr Sinclair again provided evidence to a Licensing hearing, this one on Feb 20th.

Cllr Hoskins has asked the Council’s Licensing Committee to consider controlling and regulating the sale of high strength beers and similar drinks, and to limit sales to multi packs.  Controls like this have have significantly reduced street drinking and the problems it causes in a number of other areas of the Borough.

As with our Mojoes campaign, effective, determined and sustained action is needed.
